Clinical Rotations
We have developed an engaging and dynamic evidence-based emergency medicine curriculum here at Kendall. The curriculum provides each of our residents with an excellent foundation in clinical skills in all the key areas of training that will help you reach your career goals. For those who join us, your training starts with a 4-week orientation block followed by 38 4-week rotation blocks composed of clinical rotations, formal didactics, simulations, ultrasound training, bedside teaching, online modules, and hands-on skills sessions. We also have longitudinal curricula in pediatrics, the business of medicine, quality improvement, research, and education!
PGY-1
Intern Orientation
During the orientation block in July, all ED interns work a reduced number of shifts and participate in a learning curriculum designed to facilitate a smooth transition into residency.
Emergency Medicine
Six 4-week rotation blocks are spent in the emergency department during the PGY-1 year.

This experience is continued on longitudinal Pediatric shifts throughout the remainder of residency where 1-2 shifts are usually assigned every month you are in an EM block.
Trauma Surgery/EMS
Residents will work with the Trauma Surgery team for 2 weeks and participate in the care of patients with emphasis on the evaluation and resuscitation of traumatic injuries and their management on the floors. EMS rotation is 2 weeks and includes a ride along as a doctor with Miami Dade Fire Rescue personnel and exposure to pre-hospital medicine and setting.
