Florida Kendall Hospital is a large 420 bed academic teaching hospital, tertiary care center and designated Level 1 trauma center serving the Miami metropolitan area. HCA Florida Kendall Hospital is also one of only 5 designated burn centers in Florida and receives a wide variety of burn patients. With over 90,000 patient visits per year, a high acuity and wide variety of complaints, the Florida Kendall Hospital emergency department provides residents with an exceptional clinical experience and learning environment. Over 22,000 of those visits are pediatric and 1,300 are trauma patients. The emergency department includes 48 patient treatment areas 2 trauma resuscitation areas and a burn resuscitation bay. There are two state of the art trauma resuscitation bays, a burn resuscitation bay and dedicated pediatric treatment areas. There are also fast-track and super-track treatment areas for treatment of less severe injuries and illnesses.
The Florida Kendall Hospital Emergency Department, through Miami Dade aeromedical, ground and other private EMS services, provides both 911 and critical care support for other medical facilities in southern Florida, including the Florida Keys. We receive both local and regional trauma and medical transfers for definitive care.
